The most important thing you can do is tell your family, friends and co-workers about Charter Amendment 1. Also tell them the following facts:

 Ø Pierce County is ranked #1 for violent crime in the state of Washington.

 Ø Pierce County Sheriff's Department is tied for 2^nd lowest staffed law enforcement 
      agency in the state at a ratio of 1 law enforcement officer to to 1,333 citizen (on
      on a god day). The cities of Tacoma, Lakewood and Puyallup average 1 to 500.

   Ø Pierce County is the only county in the state, and one of only fourteen counties in
      the U.S. with an appointed Sheriff.

 Ø Pierce County prosecutes nearly three times the number of felons than does King
      County which is three times the size of Pierce and has three times the number of
      prosecutors.

 Ø 67% of the felons in the Pierce County system committed their first felony offense
      outside of Pierce County, though when released from jail were/are not sent back
      to their county of origin, but instead, are literally let out the back door and
      released into our communities.

 Ø Pierce County taxpayers and voters have the power to change this.

 

Write to your Pierce County Councilmember or city councilmember (Tacoma | Puyallup | Lakewood | Sumner | Fife | Steilacoom | Gig Harbor | Google another city) and your Executive or Mayor while at it and tell tell them what you think about the above facts--and tell them you expect to see change. And then of course, VOTE YES with me on Charter Amendment 1 this November 7th!
